Let Me

Let Me

A Poem by thumbelina

Do you think you could dig a little deeper?
could you twist that knife a little tighter?
I wouldn't ask, it's just..
I don't like to be incomplete.
So, could you destroy what little is left of me, too?
It won't take long, I promise
Just dissolve me in acid.
Let me at least be lucid.

In the process,
Would you help burn these memories?
Make my thoughts become ashes.
I wouldn't ask, it's just..
It hurts, how brightly they shine.
So, could you set me alight?
I won't burn too long, I promise
Just dose me in petrol.
Let me sit in peace, like a buddhist idol.

Can I ask you one question;
Do you believe we are free?
I only ask, since..
I feel there's a losing battle,
between Ego and Me.
So, I'll ask you again,
Please help set me free..
Render me shapeless.
Let me flow void of expression
In formless transgression.

You are indeed an artist with all of the torments that accompany the title. I have not asked for acid, nor prayed for petrol, but I've often laid my head down at night and hoped I would not wake up. Such is life, yes?
Keep spilling your pain upon the naked page, dear poet.
