ReflectionsA Poem by ThrushsongI can't watch my life and live it.
I'll smash every mirror in the world
I'll be no longer a slave to the cold eye With which I try to see just like another See as the one I want to see me sees me As the stranger, the friend, the mother This veil of glass only grows desire Beneath the surface judgement peers My weakness lurks in its dark shallows My wants, my shadows, my fears Each window to emptiness will shatter Like water spills shards fall from each frame And are ground to sand beneath my heel With my obsession, my hate, my shame No more wasting time on looking I can't watch my life and live it So I'll choose life without reflection And I'll grind all the mirrors to grit © 2010 Thrushsong |
