SurrealA Poem by ThrushsongThe layers in a moment
Superimpose the starlit skies
To create a double exposure Of a night lived twice at once First a solemn clearness of silence Conducting a current of conversation Through the paths that electrify us But a burst of laughter bubbling over Three throats instead of our two Shatters these poetic expectations Light banter floats up in clouds Just breath in the chilly air Obscuring my sudden secret smile For the quiet draw is still there And silent threads slowly entwine Broken ties knot their torn twins But then we're two so two skies merge And the night blurs with the duplicity A taste bitter-sweet lies on my tongue For while we walk through the ghosts of exhalation Our thoughts caress but we do not.
