6- Riverstone

6- Riverstone

A Chapter by CloakedWriter

It was a Friday and Cali’s first night alone.  Marissa who was very excited to see her longtime friend left this morning on the first train to Brisbane.  Cali checked the clock, it was a little after 5, realizing she slept the entire afternoon right after having lunch. She sat up in bed feeling a little woozy from her very long afternoon nap and rummaged through her bag for the local town’s brochure. She remembered seeing a mention of a nearby beach right where they stayed.  Riverstone Beach! she remembered.  Cali scanned the thin book and right away saw the ad:

Riverstone Beach"a favourite hangout among Aussie locals and tourists. Located in York Bay, NSW very accessible thru public transport and just a quick train ride from and to the city.

Riverstone Beach is one of Sydney’s many beautiful but understated beaches. During the day, Bask in the sun and enjoy the powder-like white sand. Want to go surfing but don’t know how? No worries! Beginner classes are also available. Take a break and enjoy all-time favourite dishes like the famous fish and chips and meat pies around local delis. Shop for cute souvenirs right across the coast. Come nighttime, fancy a few drinks and finger food from York Bay’s go-to bar and pub DUSK, where local bands perform every weekend.

Riverstone Beach

*Where sun, sand, and fun is all you have to think about!*

This is awesome, Cali thought. I’m only a couple of minutes walk away from apparently one of the best places in town. She’s been so astounded by everything she’s been seeing and experiencing and been busy exploring the city since she arrived that she completely forgot to email Skye and tell her all about her trip so far.  She switched her laptop on and checked her email.  Just as she thought, there was a message from Skye from a day ago. It read:

To my dear friend Cali,

It’s boring in America and I miss you already.

So… are you having fun yet? I’m dying to hear your stories!

It’s so different without your boring outfits flashing in my face every single day. Ha Ha!

xo from your crazy/bored/mental friend Skye

She laughed out loud in her bedroom feeling silly, hearing nothing but her voice and then replied to Skye’s email:

Skye!!!!

I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to email you right away.  Mom and I’ve been busy these past couple days just going around the city. This place is beautiful Skye! We have to go visit together in the future! I know you’ll love it, maybe except for the fact that everything closes insanely early. Ha Ha! Other than that, it’s perfect and it would be more fun if you were here. Tell you more about it when something fun comes up.

xo Cal

Cali was hesitant at first knowing she had no one to go with but then eventually gave in.  If I don’t go, what will I do here at home? And besides it’s a Friday night, She thought.  After a moment of contemplating hard, she finally got ready and settled for an outfit she picked out for the slightly chilly autumn night"Jean shorts over black leggings and a loose army brown sweater paired with some black suede boots.  She grabbed her purse and tied the red scarf around the strap just in case it gets a little bit cooler out.
