4- Pack your bagsA Chapter by CloakedWriter“What
is summer gonna be like without you Ms. Calista Hunt?” Cali’s best friend, Skye
said dramatically as she painted her toenails a bright neon pink color. “Can you believe this is gonna be our
first summer apart? Ever? Since we were like 5 neither one of us have ever
spent summer away from each other.
Can you believe it? I just realized how super close we are it’s so funny
and weird!” Skye blabbered on “But I’m so psyched for you Cali. This is so
exciting! When you get there you’ve got to tell me everything about everything.
Say yes!” She practically shouted at Cali who was busy packing her stuff.
“Yes.” She said monotonously to her overly energetic friend. “So have you
planned where you’re going yet when you get there? Aside from all the touristy
places maybe go check out some cool clubs? You’re eighteen! And eighteen is the
legal drinking and partying age there. Oh my gosh Cal! Now you’re making me
want to go with you. I wish I could go with you. Just imagine…” Skye daydreamed
making a grand hand gesture into thin air “You and me on an unforgettable
summer trip doing crazy awesome stuff together and meeting lots of great new
people!” As Cali neatly folded a few remaining sweaters, she thought of how fun
the idea would be to go with her one and only crazy best friend on an adventure
trip to a foreign land. Skye stood up from her awkward position and opened
Cali’s cabinet “Don’t forget to bring this!” she held out a black strapless
mini dress with thin gold piping along the top, the tag still on. Cali remembered going to the mall with
Skye begging her to buy the dress because she looked “Smokin’” in it as her
completely mental friend loved to refer to it. “Skye, It will be close to wintertime when I get there and
what will I be needing a dress like that for?” “You never know Cal. I’m just
saying you wouldn’t want to regret it if in case you meet a cute Australian guy
and he asks you out on a hot date and you’ve got nothing to wear and you get
all panicky because I’m not there to go help you shop for an appropriate date
dress.” “You are too imaginative and cocky sometimes you know that? Plus you
are a mean b***h who never believes in my fashion sense. It’s called classy meets vintage chic
alright. Yours is more modern trendy and on the brink of sluttyness.” Cali
jokingly teased her modelesque friend.
People from their High School see Skye Parker as another popular snob
with a pretty face and long lean legs to die for. She loved to show them off and girls get jealous while the
boys go drooling over them. Growing up, Skye somehow evolved from awkward child
into Ms. Popular who loved the high school limelight while Cali, the more quiet,
reserved type who doesn’t like to draw attention to herself remained quite the
same person, yet they somehow managed to stay friends after all those blundering
teenage years. “I think I’m all set.” Cali said double-checking the contents of
her luggage and finally zipping it up.
“What do you want to do now?” “Let’s go to the Deli! Seeing you pack all
those boring sweaters is extremely famishing!” the melodramatic Skye said. © 2012 CloakedWriter |
