Old father time

Old father time

A Poem by threelittlebirds
"

in my English class we had to write poems on world war one, life in the trenches. this is what I have so far. a bit gloomy I guess but it is what it is.

"

Old father time beats us down

Stealing our hope,  stealing our crown

Taking its place is a hopeless frown

Old father time "

We curse our arrogance

Sitting in a decrepit classroom

Old father time teaches us of doom

We sit here, waiting for death

It creeps up on us with baited breath

Old father time "

We curse the war

Like a headstrong ship, sinking without grace

Uncharted waters, bleak to its face

Arrogance takes his stride

That fatherly taker of fools

Old father time "

We curse our fate
