Reflections

A Poem by thoughtsFromB4

I broke a mirror the other day.
It shattered me, but I was fine.
For the me that I saw on display
Was just an I from another time.

This is so witty, especially for such a short write. How the mirror broke and the author was shattered but was fine (presumably because it was a reflection that technically did the shattering) and then explains it as a past self. I know I’m saying all the silent parts out loud but I can’t help myself. I enjoyed this so much and I feel like it’s one of those writes that lit teachers everywhere would have a field day with trying to draw symbolism from. Thank you for sharing this.

And the past can't hurt us unless we let it.
