On The Shores Of Paradise (Lost)

On The Shores Of Paradise (Lost)

A Poem by Thorin.Olsen
"

Short poem from an old man's perspective.

"

Slumbering softly, I turn over

in my sleep, to see you resting in perfect harmony

on the warm sand, beneath the palm tree

I planted there so many moons ago

when our love was still young.

As you wake and see me watching you

a smile crosses your wrinkled face,

and I know, beyond a doubt,

that despite our graying hair and arthritic hearts,

our love will burn longer than a thousand suns.

~

Waking longingly, I turn over in my bed,

alone.

Author's Note

Thorin.Olsen
The title is a reference to Paradise Lost, and epic poem in blank verse by John Milton. I've never read it myself, but it suited my purposes rather nicely. Please let me know what you think, but if you see any spelling or grammatical mistakes in my poetry the odds are I did that on purpose. Much love,
-Thor
