Who is Named After the Rain?A Poem by Justin Wade ThompsonThis poem was originally published by Leaf Garden Press. I wrote this about an afternoon spent in Marfa, Texas.the rain and hail seemed more like wedding rice and confetti than anything threatening. I stood in the doorway with my sunglasses on in the rain and the girl and I posed for a picture in the laundromat next to washers and dryers tumbling. we ate ice cream at the small cupcake colored tables. long corpses dancing copper in the streets and two birds kissing. the tables wobbled each time we moved our elbows. there was no reason to stop. and the doors kept slamming in the wind. we just laughed.
