Undo the Darkness

Undo the Darkness

A Poem by Thomas W Case
"

Here is a link to my you tube channel where I read my poetry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICWIGqf62Kw

"
Tonight, I lie in bed and
scribble in a black spiral
notebook.
Why is cruelty easy for
some? Like laying down
a card.

One of my three cats,
Mojo
sits sleepily on
my old maple desk.
She is all black.
The computer screen is
black.
So are the speakers,
microphone,
and a coffee cup that
sits on the desk.

Above my dresser is a
quote by Hemingway.

"There is nothing to writing.
All you have to do is sit down
at a typewriter and bleed."

It's on black paper.

I've had the room set up
this way for over a year.
I'm just noticing all the
blackness.
Midnight in Nod.
It could be because I miss
my daughter.  She's seven.
All the black fades away when
I think about her smile
and those eyes that laugh at the
rain.

I notice that my shirt
is emerald green, with a
few drops of red.

Unbelievable! I feel like I walked around your room and saw these details myself. What an explanation!

There are perfect lines made me think like:
"Why is cruelty easy for
some? Like laying down
a card."
Hemingway quote.

And there are greatest lines from your life
"It could be because I miss
my daughter. She's seven.
All the black fades away when
I think about her smile
and those eyes that laugh at the
rain."
I just need to noted this ones to read all over again.

The way you describe the bleeding at the end is so poetic

Another great poem! Was it as easy as laying down a card or did you need to bleed? I feel for you and your relationship with your seven year old daughter. By a strange coincidence meaningful only to me, not long ago today I posted a poem about a daughter. Thomas I think you are my favorite poet in the Cafe, I love your work!

Ah, Yes, Middle-of-the-Night Thoughts, so often dark, mercifully offset by sweet thoughts, a daughter's smile. ...Re Cruelty, empire builders like Alexander, Putin, Trump, equate it with 'Greatness'!

Thank you so much.
well pal you have used your inspiration from papa well
i find the tone and candor much like his writes ... truly a 'here it iz'
if you haven't read his 'hills like white elephants' i strongly suggest it
blood is symbolic of much darkness yet it has the magjc qualities of 'life giving'

ya done good friend

Thank you, Keith. I appreciate it. I have read it—tremendous work.
All you have to do is bleed. :) This is one of the reasons I like your writing. It's simple language minus all the figurative language.

Nice one, Thomas.
