I read my poetry here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryqLr9ehn7Q
When I was younger, I had to learn. Sit and wait to write. I would get impatient and force it. If you read it, you could tell.
Now I’m quite a bit older, and I quit trying. Fodder seems to be everywhere. I can write about the most mundane things.
Today I’m at the library waiting for my girlfriend to finish up at the dentist. She’s getting her teeth cleaned. All my drinking ruined my teeth. When I got them pulled a year ago, there wasn’t a healthy tooth in my head. I have dentures now, so I don’t have to worry about how much I drink. I know this isn’t a good poem, but hey, there she is all shiny and bright… and sober.
This is a repost. I have been sober for over two years now. Check out my you tube channel where I read my poetry from my recently published book, Seedy Town Blues Collected Poems, available on Amazon.com

Best poetry. Real life thoughts. I do not force my writing out. I must have two days of rest to write now. Old mind is sleeping sometime. Hello Thomas and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

wow, seriously thank you for sharing this story. I hope you know that you did survive from something really big. What other people don't understand about people who have battled addictions is that; addicts are in a war every day. and this is huge.
Happy for you sir, and this is a great poem
"all shiny and bright…
and sober."
This is prose poetry and it's quite well delivered. Congratulations on your sobriety. But this snippet of life provides the pound of flesh so often sought after by the critics...give us your suffering, your joy, your laughter, your tears. But prose can be about anything you choose and it need not be personally revealing unless you wish it so. Still, the honesty contained herein is more refreshing than the taste of whiskey. I enjoyed the read.

It's difficult to be patient at any age; later in life I learned to just get the words out or just mix the paint on the pallet; edit later and, to quote Bob Ross, there are only happy little accidents in the studio. Enjoyed the poem very much.
there's much to be said about going with the flow, it's often better than valiantly fighting the night, or whatever-it-was Who-ever-it-was said :)
"...so I don’t have to worry about how much I drink." At this laughed out loud :)
