The Birds of November

The Birds of November

A Poem by Thomas W Case

"
Time has run through
golden fields of hay
and swam the moss-covered
ponds in the soft amber
light of dawn.

There are shards of
beauty in the
rubble of a broken life.

Those summer days
crawled
like
a

grumpy

tortoise.

Then galloped on by, like
a bareback colt.

I fed on the breast of life,
grew strong, and free.
And now,
those November birds

are

coming for me.

The beauty of the sun touching the surroundings in golden light is a beautiful scene.

November birds coming for me…
Strong statement of growing older and the winter years of life are growing closer. I don’t like winter so this has a deep impactful thought for me.

Thank you, my friend.
Yes, that extended metaphor we call life. Makes one wonder what Hitchcock knew.
