God, How I Miss You

God, How I Miss You

"
When the
naked branches
blew in
the late
autumn winds,
our love died.
How I long
for the days
of spring,
when all was
alive with
newness.
We lay beneath
the willow tree
and dined on wine,
bread and love.
God,
how I miss you.

A finely penned bitter-sweet poem. A beautiful love died in Autumn after being born in Spring. Autumn is the season of decay and sadly, Spring does not resurrect those halcyon days that once were. I love the simplicity of the poem, it is very appealing. Excellent depiction! A great write! Thank you for sharing...

This reminds me of an old friend....she is gone now, but forever in my mind and heart...and we shared dinners and drinks and ourselves with each other...

Literally and metaphorically powerful. Loss and the nostalgia bitter sweet can be felt here.
