I'm going to write this. I say that to myself, and to you, the reader. Every time I sit down to work on poetry lately, I'm overcome by lethargy. I look at the whiteness and go blank. I thumb through notes, nothing.
The thought of lying down for a nap rides by on a tri-cycle in my mind. I hated naps as a child, they interfered with my plans to conquer the world. The coolness of the sheets subdued me.
Instead of admitting complete defeat, I say to myself, Maybe, I will wake up refreshed and inspired. Perhaps, the muse will visit in my slumber.
I retire to the bed, Mojo, one of my cats, joins me at the foot of the bed. She is soon dreaming of catching the elusive moth that has been bothering her for days. And I will dream of catching words like butterflies with a big net.

This one rather eerily reflects the moods I have been ex[periencing lately. There is this feeling of fatigue that sets in about mid morning and lasts through the afternoon. Neither myself nor my wife have undergone any traumas lately, so it's hard to explain. In the end, I think it's part of the reaction to the malaise that has afflicted the country these past many months. Whether we realize it or not, we're all exposed to continuing stress daily, and it's taking its toll in fatigue.
dear Thomas … when Nightmares become Real… I dream of Riding Wild Horses through an Oasis where Cactus flowers bloom… Civilization has become Doom. Why would we permit Radical Ideas to become Reality… sending Sheep to be slaughtered . We the People had a Country and we let them Open our Borders. .. Unaccounted and stealing our Sovereignty. Hope is the Light that brings Healing. Amen.

Sleep and dreams as the body relaxes can be very empowering. So lovely that Mojo dreams of capturing a moth while the poet dreams of catching words! I love that comparison! An eloquent write finely penned! Thank you for sharing, Thomas...
