That's Entertainment

Look at
them gather
at the gallows.
That's entertainment.
Monkeys sell
popcorn, and do
tricks, dressed in
sailor suits.
You bought your
tickets,
Now enjoy the show.

The crowds get bigger.
Everyone loves a
good tragedy, except
the one being hanged.

Some people have always revelled in others mishaps and I guess that is how it will always be in this planet. One feels so sad for the one on the gallows, but just like that person, their hands are also tied and there is nothing they can do. Excellent imagery to convey your message, Thomas in this well constructed poem. Thank you for sharing...

This is a human behavior I've always had trouble with. When the girl in the high school lunchroom dropped her tray, people laughed, but not me. No, I saw it as a tragedy and felt her pain. A great poem.

Thank you, Marie.
The masses do sadly seem to enjoy watching someone else's misfortune , and the image you create is quite vivid Thomas of the gallows...

Thank you, Stella. It's a sad fact.
A thoughtfully composed satire there I must acknowledge, very intricately expressed the idea there!
