In Lieu of Flowers

"
Orchids wilt and rot
in time.
Roses have thorns that
prick to bleed.
Seeds bring life that
ultimately dies.
In lieu of flowers
give me your
eyes full of
heat and desire.
Surrender your heart of
passion, but most of all,
water me with your
love so that I can grow.

"In lieu of flowers give me your eyes full of heat and desire..."
There's something about the intoxication of flowers, given for no occasion, that simply melt the heart of me. My husband would often give them, but since his vision has become impaired, they have ceased altogether. I would never allow myself to reveal to him how very much they are missed. Thank you for a most sweet delivery, Thomas!

Thanks, Pete. I appreciate it.
The flower of love is the prettiest and most beautiful flower every grown and only our loved partner can water it sufficiently to encourage new growth. A very sweet, warm tender poem straight from the beautiful garden of your heart. A poem to be treasured. Thank you for sharing, Thomas. Lovely work!
