There is a screaming screeching pain that is so raw. It's like a mouse caught in a glue trap. It must be locked away for no one to see or handle.
And sometimes on moonless nights when no one is around, and the owls have killed their prey, and the teardrops have been bottled and sold on the black market, you may be tempted to take that pain out, like a slice of pie, and taste it. Be careful. It may have fermented and developed a mind of its own.
The damn pie can turn bitter too Thomas. I did like the logic of the words. I told my grandchildren. Some secrets must stayed buried. Will turn the pie into a poison. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry. I did enjoy.

This poem paints a powerful portrait of emotional anguish, using vivid imagery and metaphors that resonate deeply. It captures the raw intensity of pain and offers a poignant reflection on its complexities and consequences. I loved it!
Thomas,
Truth. I've been with three through their painful ends, and i can tell you that illness and pain change everything. When your glasses are colored with endless pain, and illness has slaughtered your dreams, and all that is left is the waiting, nothing else matters, not even your caregiver, your, brother, or your lover. Pain is a black hole from which all your compassion and humanity cannot escape.

Dwelling within pain isn’t good for our souls or our hearts. Pain is one of those emotions that we can conjure up simply because something reminded us of a time of loss. It is best to feel it and let it sail on its way and not hold it tight for too long.

Unfortunately I think indulging in that particular pie is a thing many of us struggle with. I guess I can only speak for myself with certainty, but I know I find myself many a midnight thinking that would be a good idea. You are absolutely right to advise caution, it's never as good an idea as it sounds. It is absolutely a tough balance to strike, however, between forcing it into a vault and letting it loose.
I love how you warn your reader of the danger of entertaining painful memories in this finely penned poem, Thomas. The pain inside that is locked away like a criminal is just as dangerous if it is allowed free from its prison without someone being there to help, if help is needed. I love how the second stanza begins and leads up to the survivor being tempted to allow the pain to roam wild and free in their body. The picturisation is amazing, studded with allegory, the words come from deep inside as a warning to those who read this excellently crafted poem, to be aware of what could/might/may happen if their captive is given freedom. Amazing write! Insightful and in depth. Thank you for sharing, Thomas...
