Death is Stalking Me

Death is Stalking Me

A Poem by Thomas W Case

"
Death is stalking me.
It watches me play cards,
smoke cigarettes, and
drink beer.
It took my parents, two
brothers, and all my friends.
It got Chris last week.
20 bottles of whiskey in
seven days, I suppose that
would kill anyone.
They found him on the
railroad tracks.
Death is stalking me.
I won't cheat it.
I won't escape it;
but before it gets me,
I bet I finish
this poem.

don't let death ruin your life!
there is nothing you can do about it!
live life to the fullest!

slap the b***h outta death!

'but before it gets me,
I bet I finish
this poem.'

screw tribal or barbed wire macho krap tatoos
that would be some better than good INK!

As long as you are writing like this you ain't dead, and besides if you aren't writing like this why bother to be alive? Keep the grim reaper guessing!

I hope you (and me) finish many more poems to come, Thomas. Life is too short.

Thank you, Gee. I appreciate your time.
Death waits for no one and nothing. While there are things we can do to keep death from coming sooner for us which is a good thing, it’s going to happen at some point. We are not immortal after all and honestly I don’t think I would want to be.

You are welcome
I don't think death actually stalks us as much as introduce itself at a certain point to tell us it's time to go home.

So much to finish before death catches up. I loved all the real life examples you gave. Your poems are so lively and interesting, Thomas. Can go on reading and reading.

You are so kind. Thank you. I have a you tube channel where I read my poetry. You are the best.
It stalks us all and and everything else that breaths. I loved how the seriousness of this poem rapidly turns to humor in the last line. Nice Thomas

Nice Work Thomas. 'We flirt with Death, but nobody is fooled. The Reaper has the better of us all in the end.'

It will find all of us sooner or later. Sadly, some dice with it. Are doomed to meet the reaper sooner than others. A sad tale of addiction.
