I guess I shouldn't be surprised. In the beginning, the women are attracted to the light, the writing. But after a while, they hate it. They get jealous; as if I had another lover. I suppose I do. And when I'm in my stride I don't give them the attention that they crave and desire. When the words and lines are flowing the women seem so needy so greedy. I guess it's not fair that I devote my heart to writing--but truth be told, they knew what they were getting themselves into.
I'm happy to announce the release of my new limited edition book, Rise Up Collected Short Stories and Poems, here's a link. (Just copy and paste in the address bar.)

I do think it's worth noting that anyone who feels the need to compete with something that you also love probably isn't the right person for you, but I don't think you necessarily need me to say that, consider it more for anyone else who stumbles upon this review.
It is a struggle though because to be a good writer, especially if you're writing anything personal, you have to love it. You have to spend a lot of time doing it and focusing on it. I can see how that would be an easy thing to be jealous of, but like you said, they knew what they were getting themselves into. Crazy how some people will walk into a situation knowing full well what it is and still be shocked when it turns out exactly as expected.

Yes, exactly. Thank you for reading and commenting.
'We do what we do' some wit wrote way back, he might have been Greek. He manoevred words and women too, played games, rushed for the best, found self in a long queue, drumming fingers! Love your take in a very unique way

Women and men alike can be fickle creatures. I can be needy at time but I understand the need for alone time; quiet time. I often need time away from everyone to collect my thoughts. If I’m writing go do you, if I’m reading do something that gives you enjoyment. We can meet in the middle. Shrugs but not everyone is like that.
Some say I was too needy, some say I was too distant. Some people aren’t compatible for core inner self reasons.
I love this poem and how it speaks of what the woman was drawn to and then bam out the door because of that very thing. Well worded and the idea is conveyed clearly. Thank you for sharing this very relatable human piece of poetry.

No connection, other than sex...that doesn't take you into the golden years. I'm not trying to be a snob, but she didn't read any books...ever...I should have known better, but we get fodder from many situations I wrote about her a lot. I will publish another one here tonight. Thannk you...you gave me an idea.

It’s basic human nature and some of us are more sexual at our base than others.
So very true Thomas - a profound insight. And having Books on Amazon makes it all so super-real - there is no getting away from an Author's public profile. It must be very galling for the partners I guess. Excellent ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
Thomas,
You sound like Picasso, when he first met a new lover he painted her as beautiful and real... as time went by, and they no longer got along (mostly his fault), he used his cubist wizardry to convert them to this new perception of nagger, shrew, and gold-digger.

Very interesting. Thanks for reading and commenting. I appreciate it.
Writing is a personal thing, that's why we do it. The creative process takes time and dedication. I suppose a woman would want all that spent on her.
There are times when a woman doesn't feel sure about her relationship. She needs to be convinced. If something like writing gets in the way of the time that could have been spent on her, that sure feeling is in danger.
I love this poem for the honesty. Yes, writing is a first love for you and they must remember that. Its not as if you're cheating them with another woman. Its your art and it must be respected. Nothing can compare with the spiritual gratification, it provides. Very well written.
