Like a Cat out in the Rain

"
Sometimes, I feel like
a cat out in the rain.
A big black and white Tom just
trotted by.
Ears back, trying to avoid
the puddles.
Is he angry at the
world; maybe a little sad too?
Was he led away from
his domestication by
his drive and desires,
only to return to
a locked door and
no more love?
Or was he born on
the streets-never held?
Were the elements always all
he ever knew?
It's a dog-eat-dog world,
kill or be killed, and this
old boy is still alive.
I don't have the
answer to this feline's
follies,
but I do know this,
sometimes,
I feel like a
cat out in the rain.

Wonderfully wonderful writing, Thomas! Your words drip like those puddles down and out to the reader, sharing life on the street and its inevitable rejection from Life.

'It's a dog-eat-dog world,

What came before the above is more than relevant but turning another way, you have shown how life is for many two-legged beings.

Thomas this one is felt and I too have felt this way at times. It has a very identifiable feel to it even if never put out of the house then put out of peoples lives. A great write Thomas.

Thank you so much, I appreciate it.
Cats don’t like water. They hate being out in the rain. I don’t know what he was doing out there, but I saw him looking like a drowned rat. If you felt like that too Thomas, then you were in strong need of some tlc. Enjoyed the read and the visuals.

When you see a lonely cat on the street, there is always wandering: if they choose to leave and the owner still misses a feline friend, or if they return, the door is already closed.

The same thoughts are sometimes about people. Are they wondering, or are they lost?

Thank you, Kate. I appreciate the comment.
Hi Thomas, for multiple Niev, i would like to answer, no matter what we think but we plan few things, for which the time has come, maybe the cat's time has come cant live without him, and if people make do fall unnatural limes/stones/rain which is like a magic, then poor cat has to take walk out with her kit and him. Never to hurt any, offend none, its personal and few countries do encourage Euthanasia, it is legal, is not a personal disorder, why it is when someone feels not rightful way of living and goes to their best place, why do you blame the poor cat and her decision, by not digesting the truth, though very well they have created the situation its not age of 40s, it was age of 20s when my first breakup resulted in same situation of giving up life, and now it is my God, why would i do something wrong for him, i am doing right thing, and its our birth right to die also, as no one opposes it every human who has born need to die, puttinavadu gittaka manadhhu, it is in Bhagavad geetha, please do give a look into the book, which gives you answers for all dhade dhimag queries, not to this one to Niev but to few tall and white guys here...

jessy jacob,
we must enjoy death too, as it comes only once in life time and the first one if we know ahead of time, we are fortunate to make it a celebration.
i would like to dance when my beloved ones live for long life, for the drums beats which make them to the graveyard with a uregimpu, i mean walk to that burial, with all fun. so that dead souls will be very happy..

Thank you,

Very interesting. Thanks for reading.

Okay Thomas and any other folk, who may be taking a peek as I know ya do .. This is a multiple choice tick box kinda review ..

Q) why did the cat cross the road?

1) because he wanted to get to the other side
2) because it was stalking some chicken
3) because he had left his kit in the bar opposite ..
4) because I couldn't resist asking ..

Of course it doesn't really matter, does it because the answer is subjective and can be anything but he sure made me feel quite at home .. and for that, I thank you T .. N

You are a riot, my dear friend. Thank you.
Life is is difficult at best sometimes. I have a family that loves me fortunately. A mother who would do anything for her children even now that she is in her 60s.

I’m fortunate to not have felt like cat in the rain but sometimes the black sheep.

You are most welcome
I have two aging female cats, both born to feral mothers. I am sure both their parents and littermates are now long dead. As the poem tells us, life is a struggle for such creatures, and also for the occasional human.
