A Writer

A Poem by Thomas W Case

"
I just have to write.
F**k everything else.
I've suffered for my art,
and there's no doubt that
I will suffer more.
We all have our agony,
that's life and I accept
my plight.
I am what I am
(as Popeye would say.)
And I couldn't change
it if I wanted to.
I remember one night,
staying in an abandoned
house.
I wrote some poems on
the walls.
I saw the words in
the moonlight through
a broken window.
Even though I was famished,
I hadn't eaten in
three days,
at that moment, I became
full and complete.
I knew right then,
as long as I had the words;
my words, I would never
feel empty again.
My black satchel full of
writing and the clothes
on my back were all
I owned.
I had no idea where I
was going at dawn,
but I sure the f**k knew
who I was.

This sounds like the cold hard truth. Writers write. Poets ruminate. Philosophers suppose. Maybe we all have a little of a similar bug or we wouldn't be here. Cool lines. Good luck building with words from the architecture to the oeuvre and works in progress. And welcome to the café. Cheers.

Enjoyed reading this. Like the down to earth language and honest tone.
I've never felt as though I've needed to write, it's always been there in the background mostly surfacing in times of grief and sadness.

Thank you.
Wow I like this, the need to write and 3 day with out food has block you from picking words of the air because it's not the sky that fills the void but your heart that satisfy your hunger to write. Thank you for sharing your story.

Thank you for the kind review.
As long as you have the ability to write, you are not lost… because that is an important part of you…. You are who you are and nobody can change that…so keep on writing as this give you hope, and hope is important.
Nicely crafted!
Warmly, B.

Thank you so much Chris.
Thomas?,

Nowadays, in the modern, technological, Video killed the Radio Star, world of government controlled and regulated Public Education (speaking primarily of America) most anyone or everyone can write ... However, not every individual can, normally, write right and well as to exhibit the naturally attained possession of what most call a Gift or Talent for Writing that is present between two ears of a cranium stirred to Write rightly by occasional or regular inspiration of that wonderful tool that Writers make use of called Muse ...

Albeit, we do live in a world where there are those out there in the Ether of the Net who do make up for their lack of said Muse by way of inspiration by opting for an AI tutor that is technologically polite enough to do their writing for them in leaving no challenge of imagination to a once Human mind gone AI blind ... Such folks are copycats and imitators, and no Writers at all ... I am sure you have met a few in the here and there of wandering the world wide Web ...

Obviously, you are, indeed, a true to life gifted Writer who is inspired by the presence of Muse's inspiration in your life, as this nice piece of Poetry does demonstrate as an enjoyable piece of writing that does attest and proclaim that you have found your true identity as an individual who is, above all else, a Writer ... Bravo! ... May the Muse never cease flowing in your life!
