All My Life

All My Life

A Poem by Tom Aubin
"

The story of a man that spent his life chasing stories to tell.

"
ALL MY LIFE

All my life I wanted to tell stories
To turn the ordinary into a shape shifter
To make it go down on its knees
Until it would realize that it is not to suffer
Than to believe that truth comes out of dreams

All my life I wanted to create
A despair, an outpour of myself
And out of it make something great
Something that for me, and yourself
Would be a proof that love and hope once met

But all my life I looked around
Everywhere and nowhere, looking for these stories
And the more I searched, the more I felt down
Understanding that as dreams could rest, so they could run
Away from me and lost in the land

And here I am, my child, looking at my ruin of a face
Through the mirror of your youth and I realize
That my dreams never failed to trace
The sketch of your familiar eyes
This story I always chased
But failed to recognize.

I enjoyed this write. It is much better than what certain clown reviewers have suggested!

It is true that we all deep down have a desire to achieve greatness and leave a worthwhile legacy behind after we leave this life. And definitely is difficult to find and then achieve. The search must always continue for greatness can be found in the most unlikeliest of places. And sometimes we are too busy searching around for this greatness, when we should be searching within.

A nice piece of work. Coming from a deep well of thought. Well Done.

All your life you've wanted to create a "despair"? You know that word means the complete absence or loss of hope... you know that right?

"To prove that love and hope once met" ... "everywhere and nowhere"... hahahha these are just generic existential buzz word phrases. About as original and as a glass of water, your "thing" also fails internal logic... you get a C-

A shape-shifter of mirrored youth... Stories that reveal glory... Familiarity in the eye of the beholder... This beautiful sketch of heartfelt words leaves me failing to recognize anything but a lost land full of untold stories... Achingly penned...

Thank you Silente
We all want to be able to find something great that our lives will amount to and then be able to share to all so that they can be in awe. Yet like you say sometimes the most obvious of things are right in front of us. A lesson so simple yet so poignant. I loved this so much. Please keep up the great work with such well meaning and beautifully written writing such as this.
