Tunnels

Tunnels

A Poem by Thomas Kainaroi

High voltage,
Bridges,
And Water,
Will carry the night.

Frightened faces,
Dark places,
It haunts everything.

A ghost in reality,
A ghost imagined,
Both live in the tunnels.

Spirit permeated landscapes.

Walking in shadows,
Walking and walking.

Walked so far, he didn't know how he got there.

Route 351.
Fear and fascination.

Take the senses,
Take everything.

They built it in 1924.

Beaver County to Piney Fork.

Remnants in the creek,
Legends everywhere.

He has no face you can see,
But has one all the same.
It's kinder than most.
