Empty Rooms

Empty Rooms

A Poem by Thomas Kainaroi

The crowd gathered in some outside place
Around a building, known to some,
Looked upon in familiarity.

An apartment, taken from it's
Divided, graphed existence.
Uplifted and transmigrated,
Materialized in the mystic wilderness.

Singular it stood,
The crowd
Observed and as they looked
From outside then peered within
Themselves,
Not one knew what the other thought.

They all went in,
Exploring and searching
For their manifestations of the past.

One among them had the secret
And was not surprised.

Most smiled and talked,
Careless, believing they could reminisce
In the truest way.

In the middle,
The one who was apart
Retained a glimmer of intrigue,
Mystification.

But those feelings grew cold.

A certain fading occurred
While the crowd continued.
The ghostly form vacated unnoticed.

So there was one visible in memory
And one invisible and hidden in riddle.

Why do you seek the living among the dead?
