Sleep

Sleep

A Poem by Thomas Kainaroi

Boarded up rooms
And boarded up mouths
Force the words to sleep
In the nightmarish journeys
Of night and day.

Murmuring corpses
In their wedding gowns and wedding suits,
Make unwanted songs
Of the perilous stay.

Call up the ghosts, if you wish.
Observe them,
But expect no stories.
