Ghostly Petrifications

Ghostly Petrifications

A Poem by Thomas Kainaroi

A random gathering
Of desire and dismay,
Assembles in the blank room
To extract the moldings of the day.

The stages of the mind
Construct the sculptures,
And this audience looks behind
To the unmoving sea.

In one place strikes a dagger,
While one hand grasps a flower
That does not exist.

Upon a wall,
This story is acted out.
It is seen in each moment,
Within and without.

This shadow play frightens me,
And I feel hollow.

I want to be full.
I want to be free.
