CadetsA Story by Littlelady
People ask me what its like being a navy cadet. its hard work. I tell them that its fun and we make life long friends. That part is true. We do and its fun. But what I don't tell them is the stress that is put on the cadets. We are to be perfect every single time. Heaven forbid we make one mistake. We have to show respect (that part i get, but it has to be given to those that demand it and that don't show respect to everyone else). I came to my unit this year, 3 weeks away from their national inspection. i didn't know what i was doing. I came from another unit and they hadn't taught me what i needed to know, and i got in trouble for not knowing. People were yelling at me because i didn't know and it got on top of me the Friday night of their inspection. I was told i had to understand that they took me on as the rank i am because they assumed I knew everything. I had been out for 6 months. Its going to take me time to relearn everything, including my self discipline. which is what made me such a great cadet.
