Double-Sided

Double-Sided

A Poem by Emily In Disguise

my life is split in two

one path my smart side is expressed

The other my freak flag flies

in the day with floor length skirts

and my hair in a tight bun.

I answer every question prim and proper.

by night my tight blue jeans are flaunted

my hair falls down to my shoulders

I feel free I am a diva, true to heart

as the neon lights flash, I strut my stuff on stage

but during the day I repress my diva

day to night the same tranformation

will it ever change

will I ever let my true side show

to be or not to be

will that always be the question?

i think we all have dual personas/personalities

the one we use in our daily day to day routines
and the one we desperately want to be ~ the one
that would set us free!

nice job with this one.

Nice imagery... Now this duality...Is it really forced, or did you split yourself in twain?

I love the meaning of your poem, and you expressed it so well! I feel like I have to hide part of me from everybody, and I always wonder if they will ever know. Awesome job!

I'm 19 almost 20. People call me Emily (not my real name, unless you haven't caught on) because I have never shared any of my writings before. I'm thinking it might be close to time to change that. more..
