Lies

Lies

A Poem by Emily In Disguise

Promises are meant to be broken

I took word from your lips that was spoken

I've found all have been lies

You promised me, I promised you

Traded trust we exchanged

And now that all is said and through

Old habits arise from the grave

Have the w****s, they sure want you

As I detach and wither away

I won't trust anyone untrue

Never make myself the predator's prey

I relied too much on you

For happiness and hope

Now there is nothing I can do

I stuck out my neck to be choked

I've chased away all shots at love

I'm not risking any mistakes

For now it's all said and done

Nothing's left here, our chapter's blank

I really liked this, especially the last line and how it just.. ends so suddenly, perfectly illustrating the rest of the poem...

Ah, am I making any sense? I usually fail at interpreting poetry, but I still like to try!

I don't like to make promises, don't believe in it really. I speak truth because all I know is promises are too easily broken. Good writing. Thank you for sharing. Debileah

Wow...I can taste the bitterness in this. Therefore, awesome deliverance. Nice, subtle rhymes.
