This Is Me...

Okay, first I attend a catholic school where this isn't quite accepted by most. This is probably the exact story of my life, wherever I go.

They don't understand.

They think I'm confused.

But I'm not and they don't see,

This is me...

They say it's a sin.

They say I'll go down.

But I won't and they don't see,

This is me...

They think I'm experimenting.

They say I am straight.

But I'm not and they don't see,

This is me...

I like boys too much.

I will hurt my boyfriend.

But I won't and they don't see,

This is me...

I am only bisexual.

I swing either way.

But they don't care and they don't see,

This is me...

I go to catholic school too! I don't think being bisexual is bad at all! I accept people for who they are! You seem like a nice person! I will be your friend if you'd like :) Bisexual is awesome! I'm not bisexual, but I dint judge people for being it. :)

I think this poem is very relatable and the colored text fits perfectly. Being bisexual is not bad at all, but sometimes its hard for other people to see that. I am pansexual and it was hard for me to come out because i didn't know how my family would react. Gender really doesn't matter in relationships, as long as each person is happy who's to stop them from living one another? They are not hurting anyone else, let them be themselves. Let them be happy. Never give up, no matter what people put you through and no matter how much they don't understand, just be yourself and always keep yourself happy, regardless of other peoples wants. It's your life, not theirs!

Wow, for somebody who's just beginning high school, you certainly are a good writer. I've never really paid much attention to every detail of what religions say, so I'll say just be yourself. Nobody else can tell you who you are, what you believe in, or what kind of person you want to be. You have my respect for being this brave to post this. Outstanding job. :)

I think you've the beginnings of something great here. I admire your decision to use poetry to make a bold statement (in fact the bold text works nicely to this affect), however I feel it needs to be pushed a little further. Perhaps by introducing more of a satirical tone, to make your defiance a little more powerful in face of persecution.

Oh, my bad. Put simply, satire is a genre of writing and art which attempts to mock aspects of other art, people or societies. It does this usually by making a display of its target's inherent absurdities, which is why it's used so much in social justice pieces. You're American right? A good example would be Stephen Colbert.
I'm not advising you make the poem a joke though, rather that it use wit so as to seem stronger in face of oppression.
