Spring Day

Spring Day

A Poem by Sarah Marie

Spring's wind is known dearly within the home,
The breeze traveling through a taunting screen
Within a room, billowing with joy
As the rest remain still, silent, and dark,
Unknowing of the spring's warmth
And the sunlit rays which hold a promise
To heat and cherish each wintry heart
With a stroke to each cheek and kiss to each
Pale grin. Her joy is known.
The open window shows the rest the beauty
And peace within a bright spring day.
Dark curtains reach out to take a hand,
Their pure white backs waving hello to the stillness
Within a room, and drag one out to revel in this
New spring day. The life within the breeze
Tangles itself within the curtains as if to ask,
Why do you not play with me? Play with me,
For I have not seen you in so long, and this day
Is perfect for reuniting friends. Come play with me.
The breeze is crisp, as fresh as it could be,
When within the sun's smile.
It waits patiently, all becoming like a silent winter's whisper
As it waits to see if one will come out,
The sun coaxing one away to play with its sons and daughters,
The beauties of a new spring day.
