Hourglass

Hourglass

A Poem by Sarah Marie

It lives for but a moment
Before time starts again,
Sand dragging before reaching the end.
When all time ceases,
To the opposite side it returns-
It never learns
That its safest place is in the middle,
Hidden within the narrow pole
From each eagerly awaiting soul.
If it would never need to find an end,
If all time could cease,
Then would the hourglass find peace.
