Summer RainA Poem by Sarah Marie
Grey blankets the clear blue sky;
The earth grows colder without the sun. It shakes by the storm's quick demand To remind the people of darker days. In one swift moment Heaven pours out Her thoughts and worries with a storm, Instant and spreading to all ends of the earth. People grow silent, the rare thunder in command And rain lashing damp faces lest people forget. All in one moment-yet in the following The clouds all part to either side, The sun too bright for one to stare Into the Heavens, glimmering with light, And witness each raindrop's slowing descent To reaching blades of grass knowing No better joy than the cool, summer rain. © 2012 Sarah Marie |
