Dressed in BlueA Poem by Sarah Marie
She is dressed
In pretty things- Lily brooch on her breast, Flashy sapphire rings And a matching gown, Small costume crown. She searches for her rest In stockings, blue and lace; Her hands over her chest, A smile has crept over her face In the eyes of the family- She looks happy In her wooden bed Adorned with indigo flowers. Many a tear is shed As they stare at her in her hour; A frown has crept over her smile In the eyes of the man walking up the aisle. Her husband notices How she is dressed And more than anything he wishes It had been him to find rest- For the town's sweetest blue girl Left a black and white world. She is dressed In her funeral clothes; Many stay in their seat lest Hysterically they reveal their woes In front of the woman in blue- What is a town to do When it has lost Their sweet blue girl? Whatever the cost, She had been the color in their world- And she is dressed In her best. © 2012 Sarah MarieReviews
