Black CherryA Poem by Sarah MarieI stole the fruit from the twig Then brought it to my lips; I tasted Heaven in a cherry tree, But he seeked the fruit of my kiss.
Expecting sweet and succulent, He dragged his tongue along the sheen; He licked the glossy trail away, Transferring the shine from my lips to his.
But he enjoyed the aftertaste--
Instead of a warm red dripping with juice, He tasted the woman beneath the surface; He dipped his tongue beyond the tint Then savored the flavor of my dark kiss.
We crossed the stem between our mouths Until our tongues tied like the knot; The color trickled down my chin, But he still drank the nectar he found.
“Ma cherie,” he whispered to me, Lapping up the lipstick And kissing the black cherry goodbye. © 2017 Sarah Marie |
