Crystals claim the land
From horizon to stony earth; The world is at its most beautiful Ever since the most precious birth- Whether the Child was born In the midst of ice-covered hay, The cool breeze of autumn, Or on a warm night after a spring day Matters little, for this is still the time His most holy birth is celebrated; Sheep and cows gathered around, And Mary and Joseph were elated. Ever since that sweetest moment, Winter has become a wonder; The sun and warmth fade early, And all the colors retire to slumber. During dawn, the sun peaks out And shines on a delicate thing; The world looks new and pure again, The ground glistening like a diamond ring. Everywhere one turns are strangers To be met, families round and made of snow; Mischief is on every sidewalk As packed snow little boys and girls throw. Snowflakes fall on young tongues, All far different than the others; They try and try to stay together Like eternal snowflake brothers. The world becomes like glass, Fogging up with breaths on cold hands; The world is bright and beautiful, Blanketing every child, woman, and man. Icicles seem to twinkle and tinkle, Echoing in the season’s silence; The beauty blankets and spreads far, Protecting winter’s presence. Everyone is bundled up, The snap in the wind still causing shakes; Yet not a soul seems to care, For there are chewy cookies to be baked And hot chocolate to be brewed And logs on fires to be stacked- All the world is in harmony, All forgetting certain traits that some might lack. Peace and brotherhood and love to all Goes around and around to every heart; Friends and families gather around, And many even hate to part! Winter is most gentle yet bold, An angel in a white cloak of beauty; Silence and peace and loveliness- This daintiness means the most to me. © 2013 Sarah MarieReviews
