The Forest PrinceA Poem by Sarah MarieThis is a poem about one of my characters-a forest prince :)The forest is a sacred place To all the forest kind; Humans seldom travel here, For most fear what they find. Legends countless have been told About the forest’s creatures; Yet they are like any other- But with incredible features. Mermaid tails of red and gold, Unicorn horns, and wings abound; Yet not one strikes attention Like the wearer of the crown- He is the prince of the forest, Clad in acorns, leaves, and vines; He knows the heart of every creature, He and the forest intertwined. His mother was a human, His father the previous prince; He chose the forest when a child, And he has ruled ever since. He is known for his gentle hand And taking pity on the weak; He is innocent, but he is strong, The forest prince wise and meek. He listens only to the sun and moon, They who created every first; Every creature after them Is born, transformed, or cursed. And when the prince proudly dies, His pure, sacred soul shall rise; It shall become a bright, shining star In the vast heavens of the night sky.
