My Soul's ApologyA Poem by Sarah MarieIn the day, I hear you screaming; In the night, I hear you crying- At morning I hear you mumbling, And at dusk I hear you sighing. Do not go away From my frightened gaze; Do not leave me here Wondering where you are. My afflicted soul And broken heart Are no match For pleading eyes And quivering lips; I cannot pretend To even begin Understanding This dark place In which you live. I cannot be dragged down, For I fear I will never Be lifted up- I have seen death In your crystal eyes; I have felt hell In the tremor Of your quaking bones, Known agony In but a simple stare- I fear my heart Cannot travel so far As the depths Of your own Memories. Forgive me, My lonely, Forgive me, My love.
