War in My Heart

War in My Heart

A Poem by Sarah Marie

Don’t you go,
And don’t you die;
Don’t leave me here
Alone to cry.
Have a heart
And think of mine-
Are our souls
No longer entwined?
Where is the love,
Where is the hope
That one day
You will come home?
I cannot ignore,
And I cannot pretend
I do not think
You will leave me for Heaven.
Please be safe,
And please come back soon;
Your absence
Is my dread and doom.
War cannot keep you,
For you do not belong
Anywhere but in my hold
So warm, close, and strong.
Madness cannot have you,
For you are gentle and calm;
I feel as if your heart
Will soon leap out my palm
And join the rest of you-
Don’t let it be in a grave;
For you to return safely
Is all I know to pray.

Personally, I don't know anyone close that is in the army...so I don't think I'd really be able to understand how worried some soldiers husband's and wives and relitives and friends must feel. Although, my brother wants to join the army when he gets older (he's 13 right now) and I sometimes wonder what it would be like if he did. I don't know for sure, maybe he'll change his mind, go for a different career, but I don't know.
This is just so beautiful. I can't ever imagine what some soldiers and families must go threw because of wars. We all desperately wish for no more war...but, it's a pretty big wish. And we'd need a pretty big star, to match something a big as war, wouldn't we?

Absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much Sarah
