Rain, RainA Poem by Sarah MarieHow can I Ever look away From the sky At the end of the day? How can you Tear your gaze From this sacred blue Behind sunshine’s rays? Impossible task- Hope drowned in vain; There is no need to ask- You miss the rain- Miss what it contains; It washes away The earth’s hidden pain. It makes the world like new- There is no reason To question you And why you miss the rain. I do too. Its absence is felt In the smallest drought; Heat and anger Linger about Until the rain returns And cries its sadness For causing the world to mourn Its unannounced leave; There is no wonder Why all of us cleave To the tears in the thunder.
