But She's So YoungA Poem by Sarah MarieWith knife to her wrist And blade to her skin, If she is gone, Who will possibly win? The color fades From her young, round face, But she hides her sadness- Not a single trace Of the tears she sheds Every day after school; She thinks she’s too weak, But the world’s too cruel. She wipes hot tears On the back of her hand And wonders if any Could possibly understand Why she tries But fails to hide Her face, too ashamed Of the countless tears she’s
cried; She rates herself But hates herself And blames herself And cries herself To miserable sleep. She feels like a fool, This little, insecure girl Having to hear she is beautiful To believe she is loved, To feel she belongs, Hatred seeming To be her theme song. Mistakes are made To someday be learned; To be accepted Is what she yearns For, but she cannot pretend That her heart’s not torn, That she will forget What it’s like to be scorned- She only thinks To make the world mourn Because this sad, poor girl Can’t take anymore. © 2012 Sarah MarieReviews
