AfterlifeA Poem by Sarah MarieTo wonder what is next After the fateful, final breath; To question what is coming, Fearing all that is left is
death; To picture what might happen, To imagine what might be- Common if nothing else When in thought of eternity. The mind cannot begin To try to comprehend; This endlessness is for the soul Whether nothing, Hell, or Heaven.
The idea can relieve or frighten, Food for the hunger of the empty
heart; It gives hope for many, Often the reason for new starts. It can ease or upset the mind; It can cleanse or burn the soul- The decisions are made only When one thinks and lives as a
whole. One cannot help but wonder What he or she might see When in the presence of countless
others In either a burning or blissful
eternity. Will all be darkness with not a
hint of light, Or will there only be the rays of
the Son? Will there be anything to crave When this wonderful, painful life
is done? Will it be in the pits of the
earth Or in the zenith of a powder blue
sky? Will there be tears of joy or
anguish When one must finally die? Will it be angels and singing and
happiness Or demons and wailing and strife? One cannot help but consider What to expect in the afterlife. © 2012 Sarah MarieReviews
