HumanA Poem by Sarah Marie
They cannot help but stare;
They think you are an animal; They do not even pretend to care You now feel like a fool. They will not ever see You too have a heart and soul; They tease you mercilessly, And you begin to lose control. They think that is all right Just because they can; They ignore your bark and bite, And you no longer feel human. They cannot end their play- Not that they have ever tried; Your only hope as you pray Is that they do not hear you cry. You cannot understand what they find So amusing in your pain; You begin to lose your mind, Forgetting you were ever sane Or once knew a day when all You felt were peace and joy; So you weep and hide, scream and bawl Because they made you their toy. You blame yourself every day For what they made you be; And all you can pray Is that your tears they never see Even though this sorrow Seems like it will never go away. You hope that they might One day know what they have done By smothering your dying light And only allowing you to fight or run. You hate yourself and who you are And who they made you really; You only know to hide and go far To a place where tears can fall freely. © 2012 Sarah MarieFeatured Review
