A Woman's WingsA Poem by PrometheusAnother poem on feminism.
I.
They say our wings are worth more broken. "Be dumb," they say. "Soft-spoken, And ignore the need to fly." And, WHY Do we take this beating From an invisible regime? When they tell us to stop eating, WHY Do we put our food aside? II. We rip our feathers from our backs To relax Our constant dreams, which surge within, Because we think we'll never win So, Why bother? (READ: this suicide Means killing one another.) III. One woman bears the voice Of one hundred thousand women. So, it's your choice To drag us all beneath the rug Or lead us from this grave we've dug And let us fly. Women, let us fly. © 2010 PrometheusAuthor's Note
