A Woman's Wings

A Woman's Wings

A Poem by Prometheus
"

Another poem on feminism.

"
I.

They say our wings are worth more broken.
"Be dumb," they say.  "Soft-spoken,
And ignore the need to fly."

And,

WHY
Do we take this beating
From an invisible regime?
When they tell us to stop eating,

WHY

Do we put our food aside?

II.

We rip our feathers from our backs
To relax
Our constant dreams, which surge within,

Because we think we'll never win

So,

Why bother?

(READ: this suicide
Means killing one another.)

III.

One woman bears the voice
Of one hundred thousand women.

So, it's your choice
To drag us all beneath the rug
Or lead us from this grave we've dug

And let us fly.
Women, let us fly.

I'm surprised you dont have that many reviews. I read this and thought, "This is great, this is different." When I got to the end I didnt want it to stop. You have a great view on life. Its definitely a different form of perception, but I believe that is key to the writing. Bravo

A strong feminist write. The lines: 'One woman bears the voice
Of one hundred thousand women...' is very powerful.

you tap the subconscious oceans of the feminine with your poem~ once upon a time women knew not just the every day benefits of but the spiritual evolutionary fruition inherent in nurturing each other as well~ somewhere along the way through the complexities of societal advancement we've somehow permitted the sacrifice our our primal natures to be revoked by emotionally and financially motivated greedy little corprate ventures that tear our natural elements down and set us against each other~

your poem sings a song of clarity~ a mirror placed before the allure of the nonreal reels we are forcefed from day one~elemental and enchanting~ your poem opens up the woman to herself~her reflective gaze inward~
