Nostalgia

A Poem by Shruti
"

A poem that talks about love, loss and reminiscence.

"
I look at the horizon
Expanding into the unknown,
The pale blue skies merge into
The Prussian blue, ever so slowly.

Whispering breeze, rustling leaves,
Blurry swatches of green
Zoom past me like a dreamless night,
I think of you again.

The lingering scent of fresh jasmines
Engulfs my being; slowly, longingly,
A distant sound of laughter, I hear,
Your laughter, familiar and true.

Pages turn; books and calendars,
The myna sings its song,
The swinging cane armchair sways
In the deserted verandah.

The warmth of the sun fades,
Our memories too,
A drop of rain on my forehead,
Treasures I shall forever cherish.

I am a perennial dreamer, and writing helps me put my thoughts into perspective. I enjoy romanticizing everyday, mundane life; a defense mechanism I've come to accept. Philosophy intrigues me. Nature.. more..
