THISA Poem by thewritingbananaA poem about an amazing dayIt’s chartreuse as all Hell today The bubble wrap is breathing A December day outside my head Inside my mind is seething
A presence looms inside the empty
house More a shadow than a bear Inexplicable, its absence Undeniable. It’s there.
Electro-dance encircling heads Stars burst and bass drums pound The bedroom’s now a planet My head, the sun it orbits ‘round
Under covers, safe and sound Peering through my ear Nothing but a head in darkness Watching Mozart’s deer
Safe inside the cupboard now Not a bashful little spoon The need for warmth has gone from
me In search of freedom soon
I think I’ll walk the dogs today They seem like such nice people It’s easy to see God this way Better view than from the steeple Not ignorance, but THIS, is bliss No longer feeling shocked Exploring everything I can Closed doors have been unlocked
Shoestring eyes and gnashing
teeth A friend can look so strange His mouth will chomp like pacman His face- melt and rearrange
I drink the brilliant, burning
sun I spill some on the floor Sitting, blue inside a bathroom
stall And laughing at the door
Stretched, oblong, trapezoidal
face Coral, flaky, paper lips A woman who’s a pecan pie With twelve chins and whale hips
The yokudeki chicken Kicked a ball across my phone A train of crawlers crossed my
hand And I was not alone
I think a thought and then I stop A mind inside my mind Advises me against myself I leave old thoughts behind The DJ hugs a pillow His anchor to the Earth To watch a frozen image move Of interstellar birth
Tree fingers force a chuckle Christmas captivates the eye Hugs and kisses make you tingle A woman’s love will make you cry
The ceiling waves goodbye As you lay in bed at night Too many thoughts to fall asleep
just yet But wake up feeling right
