The Greatest Beer I ever tasted (A Short Journal Entry)A Story by thewritingbananaJust a couple hundred words about the most interesting beer experience I've ever had. Also, a bit of a teaser for another story. We returned to my friend’s house laughing hysterically, and made our way into his patio where we found the rest of the group huddled around a glass table, listening to music playing on the DJ’s Ipod. Every guy in the room had a beer in his hand, with the exception of the DJ; he was hugging a pillow so tightly you might think it was his anchor to the world, and that letting go might cause him to be whisked away by even the most delicate breeze. Naturally, I wanted to drink as well. We all felt particularly attached to each other just then, because of the LSD we’d taken early that afternoon and were subsequently tripping on, and I just wanted to do something with everybody, so I popped the top of the cooler and pulled the only remaining beer out of the ice. It was a Sam Adams Black Lager. I’m not typically a fan of dark beer, but just then I really wanted to drink with my friends, and I needed some refreshment after the hilarious experience three of us had at Wal-mart just before returning to the house-plus I’d been tripping on acid all day and EVERYTHING was delicious. I popped the cap of the bottle and took my first swig of the Black Lager. Immediately my mouth was struck by the full bodied barley flavors and the sweet hints of fire roasted caramel. I was enjoying the unparalleled wetness and fluidity of the beer-which I attribute entirely to the LSD-and shivering as its cold, crisp refreshment flooded my body when suddenly the bold, rich taste of dark chocolate boomed into my mouth combining itself with the grainy body and delectable caramel. Each sip of Sam Adams Black Lager entreats the palate with a smooth and subtle combination of bittersweet flavors and finishes with spicy hop notes. It is truly the greatest beer I ever tasted; as for whether or not you’ll enjoy it as much as I did, well, there’s only one way to find out. © 2012 thewritingbananaAuthor's Note
