Ode to Electricity

My family and I wrote this when the electricity went off for a week during a winter snow storm.

How we miss thee when thy is gone,

For your light and warmth we do long.

We miss your hot water when the tap is on.

Yond’ black TV screen our programs postponed,

Even the TiVo will not come on.

The cats curl up, the dogs yawn

As we await the coming of the frigg’s song.

Will the dearth of you much more prolong?

Lack of heat and water, all wrong!

It’s driving me ape s**t, ape s**t, I am King Kong!

It has its own little bounce to it in a way, I suppose the rhyming does that for me. I, however, love lightning and thunderstorms, but this is cute. It is more modern than most of the poetry I read, good work.
