Chains of Water

Chains of Water

A Poem by Wildwood Fox

It's sound is so calming, the water so inviting.
The wave's tips so white, the water so black.
The clouds, they throw it into shadow, the moon makes it glisten like silver.
It calls out to me, inviting me in, I ease to the edge, my toes all wet.
The water is warm the black a bit unnerving.
It whispers my name again, it comes in with the wind and salt.
I go forward my knees all drenched.
The water is colder, but still I feel the longing.
My name is whispered again,
Shoulders all sodden.
My head is under, my lungs are full.
I have made my home here with the sand and the forgotten.
The sea is my mistress and I it's slave,
My chains are of water my clothes of sand.
I am now a legend only whispered in the wind, a ghost to walk upon the sand.
