a Haunting Decision

a Haunting Decision

A Poem by thewholesoul
"

A sonnet about abortion.

"
A haunting decision, what could have been ?
He or a she ? Tormentingly teasing...
She passes a playground not looking in
Hindsight exhuming just what she was missing.

All her possessions, successful career,
She'd never achieve with bundle of joy
Are marred with a thought that won't disappear:
Paying a 'doc' for a bundle of sigh.

Though she and her peers and parents agreed
Unheard was the life without any voice
Not given a name yet pain it received
What would it have said if 'it' had a choice ?

Her gravest mistake, she can never recast,
Haunted by an unborn ghost of the past...

yes, such a difficult question, I used to think that it might be ok, in some circumstances, but now, I'm not so sure! Even at just 2 or 3 months the baby has already formed a brain, dare I say a soul, an awareness anyway and a connection with the mother.

A tragedy. But the birth might have been a tragedy as well. Some decisions are just never going to feel right...
